Chair of the House Armed Services Committee Adam Smith (WA-09) on the 2021 NDAA

In conjunction with Indivisible Eastside, we present a live town hall with 9th District Congressman Adam Smith.

He is the chair of the House Armed Services Committee, and he joins us to we discuss this year’s National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes how much the US spends on defense each year. (This year, it’ll be somewhere in the neighborhood of $740 billion.)

We break down how the money is spent, how it might be better spent or even drawn down, and how it reflects our priorities and values. We also touch on how Smith sees fight against authoritarianism, and about what he believes it will take to restore our standing in the world post-Trump.
